Hi to everyone of you guys, my name is Elyan Fernova and i am a pro-drummer as much as i think you all are. Really i was truly happy to see how many of you wants to keep alive the two main names in contemporary drumming: Carlos Vega and Jeff Porcaro. To tell you honestly when these two Giants in Drumming Art, they have passed away in different times, it has been for me one of the worst moments as far as my drumming inspirations it was concerned. It was like for me, that i've lost a direction the compass to be inspired again by someone, as far as my art as a player it was and it is concerned.
Honestly in these days as far as drumming everything seems so flat out and dull, i mean the only thing that you hear on records or clinics, it is just fast chops on double kiks and bags only full of chops but, no feel or sound. When they are asking me why don't i use a double kik for example, i always say that, after 37 years of playing drums, i'm still working to get going one bass drum pedal. Probably in the next life i will work with two but @ the moment i'm still concentrating on one. Carlos and Jeff they both had an amazing control on their bass drums, and the way to play their kiks, a truly inspiring one. For this reason, even the fastest player on double kik, will never match their spot on stroke on the bass drum and tempo. I'm also happy about the guy that wrote that he cried on the Country Road Carlos's solo...man, i bursted out in tears too when i've heard that. So guys one last thing, you must be really good as players because if you like those drummers it means to me that you have a lot of Art in your souls...Goooooooooood very good.
Ok all the best to you guys and please always keep the memory of the serious players alive, even if they aren't with us anymore...Sigh!

Welcome to HOD!!! The intro tune on your website sounds absolutely great!! I can certainly hear the inspirations of Carlos and Jeff in your playing. And THAT my friend is the best homage you can 'pay' to those drummers. Just as Buddy lives thru Weckl and Tony lives thru Vinnie, I think that is the story of our family. There isn't anything that hasn't been already 'spoken'in this business, it's just that we haven't heard it in a while.

Have you ever noticed something about the posts of people from Europe here?? It seems (to me) their words have alot of passion behind them??

Yes, any drummer who IS a drummer knows [or is soon to learn] about the fantastic Jeff & Carlos. Two of the greatest losses to the music commuinity EVER...as well as two of the greatest talents.
